AWARD CATEGORIES

ESTRELLA AWARD:

This award recognizes a promising attorney in the DHBA membership who has distinguished themself through their involvement within DHBA and/or by giving back to the Hispanic/Latino or legal communities.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Current dues-paying DHBA member
• Licensed seven (7) years or less
• Demonstrated involvement in DHBA or meaningful service/contributions to the Hispanic/Latino or legal community.

CORPORATE COUNSEL DIVERSITY AWARD:

This award recognizes outstanding achievement by a corporate counsel who has demonstrated a sustained and meaningful commitment to advancing diversity in the legal profession, through efforts to recruit, retain, and promote attorneys of diverse backgrounds, and/or the support of initiatives that strengthen the commitment to and promotion of corporate legal diversity.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Current dues-paying DHBA member
• Current in-house/corporate counsel
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity in the legal profession, either through (i) efforts to recruit, retain, and promote attorneys of diverse backgrounds, or (ii) the support of initiatives within the corporate legal department, organization, or the legal profession, that strengthen the commitment to and promotion of corporate legal diversity.

LA LUZ AWARD:

This award recognizes an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions by serving as a trailblazer within the Hispanic/Latino legal community through their legal work, professional leadership, and the development, advancement, and support of programs or initiatives that have delivered a meaningful, measurable impact for the Hispanic/Latino legal community.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Current dues-paying DHBA member
• Licensed fifteen (15) years or more
• Sustained commitment and contributions to the Hispanic/Latino community and the legal profession, through their legal work, professional leadership, and the development, advancement, and support of programs or initiatives that have delivered a meaningful, measurable impact for the Hispanic/Latino legal community.

LAW FIRM EXCELLENCE AWARD:

This award recognizes a law firm that has demonstrated exceptional leadership within the Dallas legal community by advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; supporting issues of importance to the Hispanic/Latino community; and, actively identifying, sponsoring, mentoring, and promoting Hispanic/Latino attorneys to positions of leadership and professional success so that they may become part of the next generation of leaders in Texas.

Eligibility Criteria:

Clear and specific examples of the firm’s leadership and contributions to DHBA and the Hispanic/Latino community, through the firm’s:

• advancement and support of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives;
• support of issues of importance to DHBA and the Hispanic/Latino community; and/or
• meaningful efforts to recruit, sponsor, mentor, retain, and promote Hispanic/Latino attorneys to positions of leadership and professional success.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR:

This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to DHBA through sustained involvement in committees, programs, events, or special projects, and whose contributions have significantly advanced the mission, growth, and success of the organization. Note: Interns, law students, and others who are not yet licensed are eligible for this award.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Current dues-paying DHBA member
• Clear examples of the individual’s service to DHBA, through involvement in the organization’s committees, programs, events, or special projects.
