DHBA 6th Annual Event Lighting the Path to the Legal Profession
Please join us for the 6th Annual DHBA Annual Event - "Lighting the Path to the Legal Profession" - on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at 7:00pm at the Belo Mansion located at 2101 Ross Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75201
This year the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association (DHBA) is proud to recognize University of North Texas Chancellor Lee Jackson, Texas Senator Royce West, and Texas Representative Dan Branch for their efforts in securing the establishment of Dallas' public law school, the University of North Texas Dallas College of law ("UNTD College of Law"). DHBA with present these three leaders with the 2011 La Luz Achievement Award during the DHBA's Sixth Annual "Lighting the Path to the Legal Profession" scholarship dinner and awards ceremony.
As the recipients of the 2011 La Luz Achievement Award, Lee Jackson, Sen. Royce West, and Rep. Dan Branch will be recognized for their distinguished service to the Dallas Legal community. In particular, because of their vision and perseverance, the UNTD College of Law will welcome its inaugural class in the Fall of 2013.
The DHBA will also present the 2011 DHBA Corporate Counsel Diversity Award to Siemens PLM and its General Counsel and Secretary Rose Marie Glazer. Ms. Glazer and Siemens' Law Department will be recognized for their efforts and commitment to the goal of increasing diversity both within the Law Department and through the utilization of outside legal counsel who are themselves committed to diversity.
The Annual Event - "Lighting the Path to the Legal Profession" - has become a signature event for the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association that joins attorneys, judges, and students in an annual celebration that highlights our collective efforts to support educational and diversity initiatives within the legal community. Through this event, DHBA gives all members of the community an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to supporting students and increasing diversity within the Dallas legal community. The DHBA will distribute the net proceeds of this year's Annual Event among the three area law school (the SMU Dedman School of law, the Texas Wesleyan University School of law, and the UNTD College of Law) and the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association Scholarship Foundation in amounts to be determined by the DHBA.
Please note that your sponsorship this year will be made directly to the DHBA, an entity which is exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code ("Code").
