DHBA 5th Annual Lighting the Path to Legal Education

Please mark your calendars for the Fifth Annual Lighting the Path to Legal Education event which will take place on September 30, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Belo Mansion. The DHBA is excited to announce that Adelfa B. Callejo will be honored with the DHBA's La Luz Award for her decades of service to the Hispanic community, her leadership in the promotion of Hispanic legal and civic organizations, and her achievements as a leader in the Dallas community.

The DHBA will also recognize Carlos M. Hernandez, Senior Vice-President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of Fluor Corporation and the Fluor Corporation Law Department as the recipient of the DHBA Corporate Counsel Diversity Award. The Corporate Counsel Diversity Award was established by DHBA for the purpose of recognizing a corporate counsel who has shown through his or her leadership a commitment to increasing and supporting diversity within the legal profession. DHBA President Jose Ortiz will also present Michele Wong Krause with the 2010 DHBA President’s Award. Ms. Wong is a past DHBA President and current Dallas Bar Association director.

Every year, the Annual Event is sold out, so make sure to reserve your seat as early as possible. Last year, the event raised over $53,000 for the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association Scholarship Foundation, which supports the Foundation’s scholarship initiatives. The DHBA wants to surpass that amount this year.
